Nelson Mandela will forever be our Hero |
Many of us want to be a person that will be remembered long after we die. We want to be significant and cause a mark in the lives of others. We go to charity walks, attend fundraisers, help orphans and many other philanthropic activities and deep within we have the feeling of being significant. It is true, you don't have to do the greatest or be on the media for your achievements in helping others to have done something worthwhile, the little thing that you did or the one life you changed will go a long way to cause an impact in so many other people's lives.
If you get a chance to be of help, or to teach someone how to fish and help themselves later, do it with all your heart. Don't wait for the cameras, there are so many unsung heroes out there who are changing lives and causing marks of happiness. What if the young orphan you assist becomes the next Mandela, who in turn helps millions of people? What if the Sick person you help pay his or her bills in the hospital becomes the next Mother Teresa? Wouldn't it be worth it?
Helping others is not easy, it is a sacrifice. It is denying yourself for the sake of others. There is no greater sacrifice than that of a man giving his life for his friends. Mandela devoted himself to help a nation and in the process lost his health but it was worth the sacrifice. So whether you go small or big, don't expect a thank you, do what you have to do. Your efforts might look insignificant but you might be the next Mandela or the person that gives hope and a future to the next Mandela...Either way, you change the world.
