The Altar Rush By Linda Wairegi

It seems everyone is rushing to the altar, we all want to be married like our parents did. The only difference is that ladies are now more bold and assertive about wanting a Mercedes Benz and being unapologetic about it. Ladies want luxury. Strangely enough, men have not been left, they want kids to carry on their name.

There is a lot of programming on Kenyan TV that deals with marriage from Baileys Wedding Show that is about the actual wedding to Ndoa that deals with what happens after the wedding. It’s a symbol that society is being taken in by the psych and hype about marriage, nobody wants to grow alone unless they choose so. However, I think we need to slow down and talk to people, who have successfully gone through the altar otherwise, we might have a distorted view on marriage.

Marriage is permanent commitment. That’s how God intended it. So don’t give in to the altar rush because all your friends are into it, your biological clock is ticking or your parents want to see their grandchildren before they meet their ancestors.
