Competition for Iphone 6 with Samsung's Galaxy S6 release

The war rages on between Samsung and Apple, with Samsung's announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and curved-screen Galaxy S6 Edge. The two new phones are nearly identical, both run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with 5.1-inch high-resolution displays. Samsung unveiled the phone during its press conference at Mobile World Congress in Spain, and it will be available for the market in April this year.
Although no concrete price has been announced yet, the phone is predicted to cost:
•    Samsung Galaxy S6 32 GB: around  $855, ( KES 80,000 or more)
•    Samsung Galaxy S6 64 GB: around  $970, ( KES 90,000 or more)
•    Samsung Galaxy S6 128 GB: around $1085,( KES 100,000 or more)

However, knowing how much more expensive things get when they touch African soil, the phone in Kenya and other African countries will probably cost way more than those prices. So, be prepared to reach way deep into your pockets for this expensive new metal phone.

The phones come at a difficult time for Samsung as it struggles financially to compete with Apple's latest hugely successful iPhones models. In fact, Samsung is launching a record-breaking £45m marketing plan to promote the new Galaxy S6 phone. Since the final quarter of 2014, Apple has overtaken Samsung as the world's largest maker of smart phones. In addition, the demand for the S5 was low which led to decline in sales. There is also growing competition from affordable enough phones like Huawei, Xiaomi and others. Thus, it is too early to tell just how successful Samsung's new phone is, especially considering its projected price tag. This phone will probably predict Samsung's fate as a competitor in the mobile industry.
