Do Your Future Business a Favor, Make It Happen

One of your resolutions at the start of 2013 was to start a wine-distributing business or set up shop or make oil out of avocado fruits. Whatever it was you found it listed down-again-on the third day of 2015. It’s not ambition. It’s fear and if by the end of the year the new resolution does not include “expand” or something else bigger, just put the pen down and don’t ever bother listing down things you want to do in 365 days or so.
The Fear
The idea of starting up a business is always as big-if not bigger-as the business itself. First you get anxious about the thought. Then you get terrified. You don’t know how far south things will go-you lose a big part of your optimistic self and something keeps telling you that you can’t. But if you want to move forward you need to kick that “inner voice” in the butt. So how do you do this? The answer is simple:
Dare Say What You Mean
Don’t be afraid to dream. But make sure that the dream you remember in the morning is the one you want to keep. If you tell yourself or a friend that you are going to do something then you better do it-if it makes sense, that is.
More so, set yourself a time limit because you only live once, really. What’s the purpose of year resolutions anyway? It’s to make yourself do things that you are supposed to but limiting yourself to a certain period of time. Failure’s not only failing to do them but also doing them late in time.

Therefore, if you are thinking of starting a business this year then go right ahead and start it. That “inner voice” is not intuition but a Devil’s tool. Shun it.
