#OCCUPYPLAYGROUND CAUSE UNREST



           PUPILS TEAR-GASSED BY POLICEMEN AT A PROTEST OVER PLAYGROUND

It was a well started Monday morning at Langata Road Primary School – Nairobi. Every pupil had come from their respective homes to school to gain basic knowledge on education but it was the no longer the usual activity. 

Protesters who are said to have come to the school to donate play kits to the pupils and as well protest against the playground of which is said to be grabbed by some individuals who are in government. The protest went sour when some group of policemen tear gassed the crowd of which involved school pupils, some parents and protesters in order to disperse them. The policemen moved in and lobbed teargas on students but one part of the wall had been demolished.

The green and blue uniformed school pupils were expressing their disappointment by the government to take action on such individual grabbers. Some of the protestors say that they were calm and drove their protests peacefully. “It’s not fair for such children to undergo such painful situations in the name of protecting their playground from land grabbers” one of the protestors.

Acting police chief Samuel Arachi told the Associated Press that he had suspended the police officer who was in charge at the scene of the protest, adding that tear gas should not be used in such a situation because the protests were not violent. "We will never allow officers to use force not only on any citizen more so on children whether in a demonstration or otherwise,"he said.
This incidence created a lot of interaction from different people of the state. Many people on twitter drove comparison of the incidence to an Apartheid regime of South Africa to Jubilee government of Kenya
